The
Autism Asperger Foundation is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization
which will provide the necessary funding, staffing and tools to
conduct applied research in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders
(ASD).
Based
on the findings of the foundation's research, training materials
will be developed to instruct special educators in the field of
ASD. Training will be provided in person and via online training
modules to assist educators, related professionals and parents
even those in rural or remote areas.
The
research findings will also assist in generating education and
support groups for social skill development and sensory integration
for individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as caregivers
and others working with people with ASD. The Autism Asperger Foundation
also plans to develop life skill training programs for older children
and adults on the spectrum to allow for as much self-care as possible.
Lastly,
the foundation plans to utilize the knowledge gained through its
research efforts to create camps and other social activities for
children with ASD. Through such efforts, children on the spectrum
will receive life skills and social skill training in both residential
and day camp settings.
